Annual PT Exam
You get your teeth checked every year. Your eyes. Your blood pressure. Almost nobody checks how they move, and movement is what quietly decides what you can still do 10 years from now. The Annual PT Exam is that check: a look at how your body is holding up, booked before something forces the issue.
A yearly check for the way you move.
Most people come to physical therapy after something has already broken down. The Annual PT Exam turns that around. It is a movement screen you book the way you book a physical or a dental cleaning: not because something is wrong today, but because you want to know whether something is heading that way. A licensed physical therapist takes you through it, one on one.
What we look at.
- Strength, including the places it has quietly dropped off on one side
- Flexibility and joint range of motion
- Balance, standing still and while you are moving
- Gait: how you actually walk, and what your body is compensating for
- Movement quality in the patterns you use daily, like squatting, reaching overhead and turning
- Fall risk, measured with tests we can repeat next year and compare against
Who gets the most out of it.
Active adults who lift, run, golf or play and intend to keep doing it. Older adults who have noticed they reach for the handrail now. Anyone carrying an old injury that flares every few months for no clear reason. And anyone whose job or sport leans hard on a body part they have been quietly ignoring.
What you leave with.
We explain what we found in plain language, including the parts that are fine, because knowing what is working matters too. You get a home program built around your own results rather than a generic handout. And if we find something worth treating, we tell you and you decide what to do about it. If we do not find anything, we say that just as clearly. A screen that always ends in a plan of care is not a screen.
What it is not.
This is a movement screen, not a full diagnostic workup, and it does not replace your physician. It will not catch everything. What it is good at is finding the movement problems that are cheap and simple to address now and expensive to address later.
Ready to book? Look over the Annual PT Exam pre-visit page first, so you know what we will ask. If the exam turns up things worth working on, a wellness plan keeps you progressing after the fact, and a home safety screening checks the rooms where falls actually happen.
You do not need a physician referral to book an Annual PT Exam in most cases. Kansas direct access lets most patients start without one, and we verify your specific plan before you come in.
