Melissa Humes
Melissa Humes handles billing and collections for Abilene Physical Therapy and Sports Rehab, which makes her the person to call when the question is about money rather than movement. That is the question most people are quietly afraid to ask. Physical therapy is a course of care, not a single visit, and nobody wants to start one without knowing what it will cost them. Melissa is the billing point of contact for both of our Kansas locations and can be reached at (785) 263-3646. She verifies your benefits before your first visit, files the claim with your plan so you are not chasing it yourself, and explains what your coverage actually says: deductible, copay, visit limits, and whether a referral is required for payment. We accept and file most plans, including Medicare, RR Medicare, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Aetna Better Health KanCare, most network plans, Worker's Compensation and auto insurance. If you do not see yours on that list, call and she will check it.
What guides the work.
The standard on the billing side is the same as the standard in the treatment room. You find things out before they happen, not after. If your plan has a visit limit, you hear about it while there is still time to plan around it. If a statement does not make sense to you, you get a person who will walk through it line by line instead of a portal and a phone tree. Nobody should have to choose between getting treated and knowing what they are agreeing to.
