Laurel Manning
Laurel Manning runs the front desk at our Chapman clinic, which for most patients there means hers is the first voice they hear from this practice. That conversation matters more than it looks. You are calling because something hurts, and you are carrying questions that have nothing to do with your shoulder: do I need a referral first, will my insurance cover this, how soon can somebody see me. Laurel books the appointment, collects the insurance information needed to verify your benefits before your first visit, and tells you exactly what to bring with you. Anything clinical she passes to a therapist rather than guessing at an answer. Kansas direct access means most people can start physical therapy without a physician referral, and if your specific plan still requires one, you find that out before you arrive rather than after you have been treated.
What guides the work.
Chapman is the smaller of our two Kansas clinics, and it shows in how the front desk works there. You are not a queue position. Laurel keeps the schedule, the check-in and the paperwork moving so your therapist can spend the whole appointment on you instead of on admin. She is also the person to call when you need to move a visit, chase down a form, or ask something you are not sure who to ask. If she cannot answer it, she will find the person who can.
