The Discovery Visit

Maybe you are not convinced this is even a physical therapy problem. Or maybe you tried therapy somewhere else, went to every session, did what you were told, and finished no better than you started, so signing up for another round is hard to stomach. Fair enough. The discovery visit exists for exactly that. You come in, you explain what is going on, and you leave with a straight answer.

01Not Sure Yet?

A straight answer before you commit to anything.

This is not a sales appointment wearing a clinical costume. You talk, a licensed physical therapist listens properly, and you get a brief hands on assessment so the answer is based on how you actually move rather than on how well you managed to describe it. Then we tell you where you stand: we can help and here is roughly what that would involve, or this belongs with a different kind of provider and here is who, or this is something to keep an eye on rather than treat right now.

You explain it in your own words

Start wherever it makes sense to you. When it started, what makes it worse, what you have already tried, what you have stopped doing because of it. There is no correct vocabulary and nobody is going to cut you off to get to the next patient. The story usually contains the answer.

What we treat →

A therapist looks, not a salesperson

A brief assessment follows. We watch how you move, test what needs testing, and put hands on the area if that is what it takes to understand it. Everything happens with a licensed physical therapist, one on one, start to finish. You are not handed off to an aide or shared across a gym floor.

How we treat →

The answer, including no

Here is the promise that matters. If physical therapy is not the right answer for what you have, we will say so out loud and point you toward whoever is better placed to help. We would rather lose the appointment than take your time treating something we cannot change. The value of this visit is the honest answer, not the appointment it might lead to.

If it has failed before

Bring that with you. What was tried, what it felt like, where it stopped working. Treatment that failed is information, not a verdict on you. Plenty of people arrive here after a program that was written for a diagnosis rather than for them, and knowing what did not work narrows the search considerably.
